Three Things to Consider Before Booking Your Wedding Photographer

Planning a wedding is hard work. There are so many things that have to be done before the big day. You have to pick out a date, book a venue, photographer, florist, band or DJ, hair and makeup, buy a wedding gown, the list goes on and on. Not only do you have to book all of these things, but you also have to sift through all the OPTIONS. There are a lot of incredible vendors out there, and you have decide who is best for YOU. I want to help you through three things you need to consider before booking your wedding photographer.

Do you connect?

This is SO important. I really can’t stress it enough. I tell my potential brides all the time, if we don’t mesh/click, we don’t need to work together. For your sake and mine! As a wedding photographer, we are with our brides and grooms from the moment they start getting ready until they drive away at night. Sometimes up to 10 hours on the most important day of their lives. If you don’t connect with your wedding photographer, it will effect how you see your photos. I would recommend getting on the phone or meeting with photographers before booking with them. Hear what they offer, how they will be apart of the planning process with you and what the day would look like with them as your photographer. My goal is to provide not just beautiful wedding photos for my couples, but an incredible experience.

Do you like their work – not just their Instagram?

It’s important to know that Instagram is a collection of highlight reels. Most photographers, if not all, are only showcasing the best of the best on their Instagram. Be sure to head over to their website and specifically to their blog to see more than just the highlight reels. Also, don’t be afraid to ask if you can see a full wedding gallery. That way you can see how they photograph a wedding from start to finish. I personally don’t include black and white images on my Instagram, however you can find them on my blogs and website!

Do they offer what you need?

Be sure to get their wedding pricing guide so you can see everything that they offer. Not all photographers the same things. Where some my offer unlimited amount of coverage, others may not. Some photographers offer albums and some don’t. Some include an engagement session as part of the package and others charge additional fees for that. Don’t be afraid to shop around and see what others offer.

All vendors are important, I may be a little biased in thinking that photography is most important. But like I mentioned, it’s the only vendor that you spend ALL day with. Make sure that you connect and that you like the work they provide. If you are engaged and looking for a wedding photographer, I would love to be considered! Click here to shoot me an email!
