The phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail. Rang again, voicemail. After the third call I decided it probably wasn’t a telemarketer – don’t they drive you crazy?! The sweetest voice was on the other end. “Hi Abby! I am Charlie Ann’s mom! You’re doing her wedding this summer. My niece is getting married and I wanted to talk to you about doing her wedding.” Never again will I ignore a random number!!
I remember waking up at 6:30 every morning to clock in to my 9-5 job that I hated. I remember my boss indirectly calling me an idiot. Constantly coming home crying because of how miserable I was. After starting my photography business and watching the Lord bless it and allow me to do something I love while having a schedule I love, I made the decision to not hold on to this blessing. I never want to take this incredible career for granted. So, every year I want to bless someone else in return. I knew the moment I met Karly and heard bits and pieces of her story that this was the couple I wanted to be a blessing to.
The two had a small ceremony at First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. Karly mentioned that she didn’t want there to be guests at the wedding. It would only remind her of the two people that weren’t able to be there, her parents. The ceremony was simple and sweet. Karly and Brandon were smiling ear to ear the entire time. After saying I do, the couple whisked off to be with their friends and family at Hotel Indio for a rooftop reception. They danced and mingled with their favorite people.
This wedding. This couple. This family. Truly some of the kindest people I have ever met. It has been one of the greatest honors to get to know Karly, Brandon and their precious families. Karly and Brandon, thank you for allowing me to step in to your lives for a short season and photograph one of the most beautiful days!
